نفايات الفضاء تهدد الأقمار الصناعية
تدور حول الأرض مئات آلاف القطع من نفايات الفضاء، وهي تشكل تهديدا خطيرا لمحطة الفضاء الدولية ولرواد الفضاء أثناء عملهم خارج المحطة.
وفي هذا الإطار، سقطت محطة الفضاء الصينية "تيانجونغ -1" على الأرض في الثاني من أبريل ممطرة حطاما كبيرا فوق بقعة من المحيط الهادي على بعد 2500 كيلومتر إلى الجنوب من هاواي.
هذه القطعة من نفايات الفضاء هي فقط مجرد جبل جليد من آلاف الأطنان من النفايات التي تدور حول الأرض.
وبحسب "Business Insider"، فإن هناك حوالي 23 ألف من الأقمار الصناعية، وأجسام الصواريخ، وغيرها من الأجسام التي صنعها البشر، تمثل خطرا حقيقيا إذا وقع اصطدام فيما بينها، وهو ما يحدث، في مشهد أقرب بتصادم رصاصتين لكن أسرع 10 مرات من الرصاص.
وبخصوص هذا الموضوع، قال "جاك بيكون"، وهو عالم بارز في وكالة ناسا في عام 2010، لأحد المواقع الأجنبية، إن قطعة من الألومنيوم يبلغ طولها 10 سنتيمترات يمكن أن تضاهي تفجير 7 كيلوغرامات من مادة "تي إن تي".
ويقول علماء إن تجنب مثل هذه التصادمات الكارثية أمر حيوي لضمان قدرة البشر على الوصول إلى الفضاء دون أن تتعرض أجهزتهم أو سفن الفضاء إلى الحطام.
