توج مانشستر سيتي بطلا للدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، للمرة الخامسة في تاريخه مستفيدا من فوز وست بروميتش المباغت على ملاحقه المباشر وجاره مانشستر يونايتد، بهدف دون رد على ملعب "أولد ترافورد"، في الجولة الـ 34 من عمر المسابقة.
وحصد الفريق السماوي اللقب، للمرة الأولى منذ عام 2014 قبل 5 جولات من نهاية المسابقة معادلا الرقم الذي حققه يونايتد في موسم 2000-2001.
وبات بيب غوارديولا المدير الفني للسيتي، أول مدرب إسباني الجنسية يحقق لقب الدوري الممتاز، علما بأن لاعب برشلونة الأسبق توج بالدوري مدربا في 7 مناسبات خلال الـ9 سنوات الماضية.
